BALANGA CITY – The threeday celebration of the 262nd Bataan Foundation Day started Wednesday with various activities at the Bataan People’s Center on the Capitol grounds here.
Organizers said this is the first celebration ever made to mark the historic occasion. President Duterte signed last November Republic Act 11138 declaring Jan. 11 every year as special non-working holiday in the Province of Bataan and to be known as Bataan Foundation Day.
A trade fair opened with 33 micro, small and medium enterprises selling quality food and non-food products.
Tasty dried fish, araro cookies, walis tambo were among the favorites in the trade fair.
Fresh vegetables were also on sale.
Chorale and dance competitions participated in by college high school students followed.
Various activities were also lined up for Thursday and Friday.
Bataan 1st District Rep. Geraldine Roman and 2nd District Rep. Jose Enrique Garcia III authored the bill enacted and signed into RA 11138.
