ANGELES CITY – The Angeles City Local Government through its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) was adjudged one of the three “Gawad Kalasag” national finalists for Highly Urbanized Cities (HUCs).
The accolade was fittingly conferred by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) chaired by Secretary of National Defense Delfin Lorenzana during the National Awarding Ceremony held December 4 in Quezon City.
Joining Angeles City in this year’s Top 3 roster of LGUs with best disaster risk reduction and management programs are the City Government of Davao, and the Quezon City Government which was named as the national winner.
“This is another major achievement of the Pamintuan administration. We can proudly say that we are among the best in disaster response, risk reduction and management,” said Francis Pangilinan, head of the ACDRRMO.
The ACDRRMO chief received the trophy and a cash incentive amounting to P200,000 from the award-giving body in behalf of the city.
