CLARK FREEPORTStarting December 1, wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) with enhanced data connectivity and speed of at least 100 mega-bit per second (mbps) will be fired-up and available to the public for free here.

This developed following the signing of the memorandum of agreement between the Clark Development Corp. (CDC) and PLDT with its wireless subsidiary, Smart Communications, here on Wednesday.

In a statement, the CDC said, “connectivity and communications will now be seamless in this freeport,” with the signing of the MOA.

The free public Wi-Fi connection will be initially available at the Clark Parade Grounds and other nearby areas including the One-Stop-Shop at Clark Polytechnic and the transport terminal.

CDC president/CEO Noel F. Manankil said the project is part of the primary programs of CDC in its mission to provide better and quality services to its constituents.

“Creating seamless and connected environment in Clark has always been our aim to better serve our stakeholders,” he said.

Manankil added that the installation of the free Wi-Fi will not only complement the developments here but is also seen to benefit in obtaining its objectives.

“The free public Wi-Fi augurs well towards attaining that objective where employees, residents, job applicants, tourists and many others would benefit,” Manankil said.

Just recently, PLDT/Smart also launched the country’s first 5G network at the Marriott Hotel here, making this freeport the first 5G City in the country.

The launching of the new network is seen to make infrastructure inside this freeport more reliable and technology-focused hub towards a smart city environment.

Accordingly, the latest wireless telecommunication platform is also expected to benefit not just the businesses here but also other industries in the country.
