“SPORTS UNITE people, sports unite young Fernandinos.”
This was Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago’s remark to hundreds of Fernandino student-athletes during the opening ceremony of CSF-EDSA Inter-Collegiate and Senior High School Games 2018 at Colegio de Sebastian on November 9.
Participated by a total of ten (10) schools, the tournament features events on Basketball and Volleyball, alongside dance competition and presentation of muses, which were already staged during the said ceremony.
Joining the roll of participants are AMA Computer College, Central Luzon College of Science and Technology, City College of San Fernando, Colegio de Sebastian, Northville High School, Our Lady of Fatima University, Pampanga High School, St. Nicolas College of Business and Technology, Systems Plus College Foundation, and University of the Assumption.
The activity, according to Santiago, will serve as a realization for student-athletes on the importance of having a better physical health and a better understanding of sportsmanship and camaraderie.
Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, on the other hand, highlighted his message on the two (2) faces of sports, citing “young Fernandino athletes have to accept defeat and celebrate victory.”
Meanwhile, two (2) ladies, namely Cyril Reign Nulud of St. Nicolas College of Business and Technology and AJ Morris Garcia of University of the Assumption were named as Best Muses for Senior High School and College categories, respectively.
For the Dance Competition, team from CELTECH won the championship title for Senior High School category and for the College category, team from SNC was proclaimed as winner.
Also present during the activity were City Councilor Ato Agustin, Colegio de Sebastian Marketing Manager Brenda Arlene Dizon, Felino Sawal of the City Schools Division, and sports coordinators and coaches from participating schools.
The tournament is expected to culminate on December 15, 2018.
