SASMUAN, Pampanga – The widow of slain councilor Jesus “Boyet” Angeles, who was listed as probable vice mayoral candidate in the 2019 polls, has said politics could have been involved in the killing of her husband.

Fely Angeles told local media that during the recent registration of voters, Angeles had a heated argument with a group identified with a political rival for allegedly attempting to register flying voters.

She said a member of the group explicitly said “lahat tayo mamamatay (all of us will die).”

Vice Gov. Dennis Pineda has offered a P500,000 reward for anyone who could lead to the arrest of the suspects who attacked Angeles in Barangay Sta. Ana in his town Saturday morning.

Angeles was jogging when at least two men with bonnets over their heads stabbed him eight times and shot him twice.

The victim died a few hours in a local hospital.

Police said a CCTV footage revealed the suspects had used a motorcycle in approaching the victim.

The suspects also allegedly fled on board a van after the crime, leaving their motorbike behind and that this too was caught on camera.

Local police chief Senior Inspector Narciso Zingalawa said his investigators are looking into the allegations of Mrs. Angeles, but assured that all possible angles in the killing would be pursued.
