TARLAC CITY–In less than three weeks after his designation as Tarlac Provincial Jail warden, retired Senior Supt. Ferdinand Perez finds himself in hot water after two high profile prisoners escaped Sunday.

This, even as Senior Supt Alex B. Sintin, Tarlac police provincial director, said he has ordered a manhunt operation against the two escapees identified as Ernesto Martin, 49, married, of Barangay Sto. Domingo, Capas, Tarlac; and Jhona Ordonio, 31, single, of Sitio Cappia, Barangay Dampot, Asingan, Pangasinan.

Martin is facing kidnap-for-ranson charges docketed under Criminal Case No. 3702-08 filed at the RTC Branch 66, Capas, Tarlac while Ordonio, tagged as a big time pusher in Asingan, Pangasinan and arrested in Paniqui town, has a case for violation of Sec. 5 of RA 9165 with CC number 176-15 filed in RTC Branch 67 Paniqui, Tarlac.

A report submitted to Sintin by Tarlac City chief of police Supt. Bayani Razalan said that on Feb. 7, Provincial Guard 1 Merlita Feliciano found the Martin and Ordonio missing despite after a head count of the detainees prompting them to check and conduct ocular inspection of the jail premises where they discovered a steel ladder at the western portion of the concrete perimeter fence.

They also found a 10-meter nylon rope tied at the steel post.

Reports said Martin was one of the jail trustees and slept in his own quarters adjacent to the concrete wall where the steel ladder and the rope were discovered.

The two inmates allegedly were in an intimate relationship.

The escape has roused residents to call on Gov.r Victor Yap to fire his newly appointed warden for command responsibility.

It was reported that during Perez’s stint as chief of the Mabalacat City Police Station, the city noted a spike in cases of robbery and drug trafficking, as well as killings.

Perez was installed at the provincial jail only last January 21, replacing retired Supt. Pascual Delos Reyes, who is now assigned at the Civil Security Unit in the Tarlac Capitol.
