April 25 a holiday in Tarlac City

    TARLAC CITY — President Aquino has declared April 25 a special non-working holiday in this capital city of his home province of Tarlac in line with its 16th cityhood anniversary celebration.

    Aquino signed Proclamation No. 753 to give Tarlacqueños the full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies. Tarlac officially became a city on April 19, 1998 but organizers decided to move this year’s festivities to a later date after it coincided with the observance of Black Saturday.

    “Pagkakaisa para sa Tuluy- tuloy na Sigla,” is this year’s theme which count among its activities a Mega Job Fair and an exhibition game between the Football Association of Tarlac and SMB-Sigla; Kalamay and Pansit Festival, Zumba sa Plaza, a variety show, recognition of outstanding local policemen and an inter-department sports fest; Bingo Bonanza, Barangay Women’s Night and concert of Aegis Band with fireworks display on April 25; and premiere night of the movies “Mistress” and “Ibong Adarna” on April 26 and 27,respectively.
