9-hour outages to hit parts of Pampanga on Saturday

    CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) has announced a nine-hour brownout in some parts of Pampanga on Saturday, April 26.

    “Customers of PELCO I will have outage from 7 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.,” NGCP Central Luzon Corporate Communication and Public Affairs Officer Ernest Lorenz Vidal said.

    The affected areas are the towns of Arayat, Candaba, San Luis, Sta. Ana and certain areas in Mexico. A short 30-minute power interruption on the same day is also announced from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. for PELCO III concessionaires affecting the towns of Apalit, San Simon, Macabebe, Minalin, Masantol and Sto. Tomas.

    The following day on April 27, the NGCP also said PELCO III subscribers will experience another 30-minute power interruption from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. affecting the areas of Apalit, San Simon, Macabebe, Minalin, Masantol and Sto. Tomas.

    The reason for the brownout is to accommodate the request of PELCO in facilitating relocation and replacement of 69kV wood poles as well as to facilitate the annual preventive maintenance of 69kVCircuit Breaker and Disconnecting Switch, Vidal said.

    Normal operations will immediately resume after work completion,” Vidal added. NGCP customers and the general public are advised to take the necessary preparations and precautions for this scheduled interruption.
