CLARK FREEPORT – The P360-million new and expanded passenger terminal of the Clark International Airport (CIA) here, which is slated to be finished six months ahead of schedule by yearend, will accommodate four million passengers annually.
By comparison, the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) passenger terminal 1 has a design capacity of 4.5 million passengers annually but actually accommodates six million passengers annually.
The new CIA terminal has a floor area of 31,238 square meters as compared to the 67,000 square-meter floor area of NAIA 1.
When completed, the new CIA passenger terminal will have eight terminal gates and 34 check-in counters while NAIA has 16 and 84 respectively.
CIA will have 17 immigration stations (12 for departing and five for arriving passengers) and three custom stations while NAIA 1 has 42 immigration stations (22 departure and 20 arrival) and 26 custom stations.
The new CIA check-in area is measured at 3,300 square meters, the baggage area has 977 square meters and a mezzanine floor area of 830 square meters for airline offices.
