MABALACAT CITY – The City Health Office has confirmed that 460 cases of dengue were recorded by the Regional Health Office from January to September this year.
Dr. Ma. Clara C. Aquino, city health officer, also said on Wednesday that the most number of dengue cases were recorded in Barangay Dau which has 110 cases followed by Barangay Mabiga with 100. Earlier report published here said Dau had 500 dengue cases for the period.
Aquino also said there were two deaths, one from Barangay Mabiga and another from the Mawaque Resettlement Center. The city health officer said they are now conducting information drives in several barangays and schools that started since May.
She said the city health office is doing this on a yearly basis to inform the people on how to avoid the dreaded disease. “We have also conducted dengue vector surveillance and we have scheduled fogging operations in several schools as well in the affected areas,” Aquino said.
She said she received instructions from the mayor to step up their anti-dengue campaign. Meanwhile, Dau Barangay Captain Atlas Morales, son of Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales, said he is not indifferent to the plight of his constituents in the light of the disturbing report and vowed to continue with the barangays fogging operations and information campaign.
