“There’s really nothing like a hit show on TV to make you a more familiar face for the public.”
Okey lang ba siya sa show na ang bida ay bakla? “You know, in Brazil, I never associated with gays, lesbians and transgenders. I avoided them because there is prejudice against them in some places in my country. If you’re straight, why would you hang out with them? But here, I became closer to some gay friends and I’m not ashamed to be seen hanging out with them. I like their company because they’re not plastic, they’re also so talented.”
But this doesn’t mean he has had a relationship with a gay. “My gay friends know I’m straight and they respect that. We respect each other. Yun ang importante para we can go on with our friendship. And that’s why I’m proud to be a part of ‘Destiny Rose’ as it’s a show that tries to educate the viewers to have more compassion with gay people. There should be love and respect for one another. I’m also happy that we all get along fine in the cast and everyone is so good to me.”
What does he think of Ken Chan in the title role? “He’s perfect for the role. So dedicated to his craft, so it’s nice to work with him.
Also with Katrina Halili, Manilyn Reynes, Jackielou Blanco. They’re all very good. At nakakatuwa kasi we were just told na kami na raw ang number one sa afternoon dramas ng GMA7 so it’s overwhelming.
This week, naikuha ko na ng visa si Katrina as Jasmine and her mom Jackielou as Dahlia. I gave Katrina a diary and I told her to write again kasi I like the way she writes, without me knowing she’s just fooling me and she just assumed the identity of Ken Chan.”
