Carol Hipolito Leus, the latest addition in the league of vocal artists, is taking the path great grand singing champions trekked to stardom. Like Regine Velasquez, Sarah Geronimo and Charice, she too, toiled, persevered and won music tilts. This is saying that like these grand champions, Carol can also be developed as a diva of her generation.
She was in the top 14 finalists of the 1st Pinoy Idol of GMA 7 in 2008. She was also TFC Pop Star Dubai in 2004. Aside from these, Carol has other musical credits and these are: Star Quest Dubai Grand Winner in 2003 and UP Los Baños in Carillon Grand Champion during her college years.
But her biggest achievement so far, is her album which introduces her officially in the local music scene as a recording artist.
Her self-titled album which was recently launched at the R Bistro Bar, Victoria Tower, Timog Avenue cor. Panay Ave., QC. contains twelve songs which aptly baptize Carol as a professional in the music industry.
‘Timang,’ composed by another musical great, Boy Christopher, is the carrier single of Carol’s album. It tells of preppy but crazy experiences of young love. It is almost sure that the bagets fans can easily relate to the message of the song.
Other cuts are “Magkaibigan, Nagkaibigan,” “Just to Make You Stay,” “Kung Magbabalik Ka ,” “Senti,” “Ngayon Lang,” “Our Love Will Stay,” “Tunay na Pag-ibig,” “Malilimutan Din Kita,” “Paalam at Goodluck (Graduation Song), “Kung Magbabalik Ka (Radio Edit) at “Hindi Ako Laruan.”
Her favorite among these songs is “Magbabalik Ka”.
“I like the lyrics. Nu’ng ipinarinig pa lang sa akin ‘yung demo nun, ‘yun na po ang pinakagusto ko. Parang bagay siya sa teleserye. Malalim ang ibig sabihin ng kanta. Tapos ‘yung areglo niya…’yung melody parang talagang mapi-feel mo. Masarap kantahin,” she enthuses about the song.
As for its carrier single, “Timang,”it was his producer, Boy Christopher who decided on it to become the carrier single.
“Gusto ko rin po, it is a beautiful song. catchy po talaga siya nu’ng marinig ko ‘yung demo. Nilagyan pa nila ng live na acoustic guitar. ‘Yun ang kakaiba sa song na ‘yun kung ikukumpara dun sa laman ng album,” she explains.
But she says that while she can relate to the song, she is no longer ‘timang’ as far as her outlook in life and love.
“Hindi na po ako timang sa pag-ibig. Siguro noon pong kapapasok ko pa lang sa teenage life ganyan. ‘Yung high school life ko. Sobrang timang talaga. ‘Yung may puppy love ka at sobrang gusto mo siyang makita sa school. Para kang timang na lagi mo siyang naiisip.
“Pero ngayon nag-mature na po ako. Wala ring lovelife. Merong manliligaw pero ‘yung commitment na sobrang serious, wala po. Kasi nga over na ako sa ‘timang days’.
At age nineteen, Carol is sure of what she wants in life. She is already deadest to fulfill her ambition and become great and as big as her predecessors. She knows that through hard work and dedication, she can attain real success.
