MARIVELES, Bataan — The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) held a public consultation on October 22, 2026, to discuss its policy governing the development, construction, operation, and maintenance of port facilities within the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB).

The consultation aimed to inform stakeholders, particularly enterprises operating within the freeport, about the policy’s provisions and the requirements for obtaining permits for port-related facilities.

The activity followed a Supreme Court ruling affirming AFAB’s authority to regulate and administer port operations within the FAB and its expansion areas.

During the consultation, participating enterprises were given the opportunity to raise questions and seek clarification on the guidelines, procedures, and regulatory requirements under the policy.

AFAB said the initiative seeks to establish clear and consistent procedures for port facility development and operations within its jurisdiction.

The authority also emphasized the importance of coordination with FAB enterprises to promote a common understanding of the policy and its implementation.

The consultation forms part of AFAB’s efforts to carry out its regulatory responsibilities over port facilities and operations within the freeport. (30)
