CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Some P86-million worth of barangay subsidies from the Local Government Support Fund were distributed to the chairmen of 430 barangays from different municipalities in the province on June 30, at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center here.
Leading the distribution under the banner of the “Bawat Bayan Makikinabang Program” initiative of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. were Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, Vice Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda, and members of the provincial board.
Prior to this, 58 barangays from the municipalities of Sta. Rita, Sta. Ana, Apalit, Minalin, and Sto. Tomas had already received their subsidies on June 22.
Under the program, barangays receive P200,000 each in subsidy, with P100,000 for five college student scholars per barangay and each scholar receiving ₱20,000. The remaining P100,000 will be used by the barangay for its chosen barangay-identified development projects aimed at improving local programs and services. At present, only 17 barangays have yet to comply with the necessary requirements to claim their subsidy.
