MANILA – “The Ombudsman has determined that Aplasca’s continued stay in office poses a risk to the integrity of the ongoing investigation into the events that occurred at the Senate building on May 13, 2026.”
Thus, said the Office of the Ombudsman in a press release on March 15 announcing it has formally issued an Order for the preventive suspension of Acting Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Mao Ranada Aplasca, effective immediately.
It said Aplasca is placed under suspension without pay for a period not to exceed six months, pending the final termination of the administrative adjudication regarding his case.
“The preventive suspension is necessary to preserve documents and evidence currently under his control and custody and to prevent any potential prejudice to the adjudication of the case,” it added.
A retired police major general, Aplasca was appointed head the Office of the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms only last Monday, May 11, after agents of the National Bureau of Investigation tried to serve Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa the warrant of arrest issued by the International Criminal Court.
Aplasca and Dela Rosa were mistahs at the Philippine Military Academy. Punto News Team
