“The CBCP-ECMI is heartened by the recognition given by swimming gold winner Joseph Schooling to our kababayan Yolanda Pascual,” said Bataan Bishop Ruperto Santos who is CBCP–ECMI chair.
The prelate said Schooling has acknowledged that his nanny’s services and dedication to his family contributed to what he is now as an Olympics gold medalist.
Pascual who is from Cagayan Valley has been caring for Schooling and his family in Singapore for almost two decades.
The champion swimmer in the Rio Olympics lovingly calls the Filipina as “Auntie Yoly” and described her as her second mother.
“Yolanda is the face of the true Filipinos who are hardworking, dedicated, loyal and caring. They bring their family values even in their work, showing their employers love and nurturing confidence and good traits in the children they care for,” the bishop said.
“We thank the employers who repay our overseas Filipino workers with the same respect and regard, and in the case of Schooling, the same aff ection that our OFWs give them,” Santos said.
