“Even during the lean months that start on July 1, we are ready with enough supply to maintain the stable price of rice,” he said during a visit at the public market and the NFA warehouse in Dinalupihan, Bataan.
He said that they have a new importation to serve as buffer stock for the lean months.
Dalisay, accompanied by NFA Region 3 Director Amadeo de Guzman, was met by Dinalupihan Mayor Gila Garcia and NFA Bataan Manager Adelaida Nuestro.
He inspected rice outlets and talked with rice retailers. “I am going around the country to monitor if the price of commercial rice is stable and to check the accessibility of NFA rice,” Dalisay said.
The administrator said the price of commercial rice went down by P2. He said he has scheduled a dialog with rice traders in Bulacan. “May report na puno ng bigas ang mga warehouses sa Bulacan na binili nila ng mahal ngunit nagmura,” he said.
On the rebagging of NFA rice into commercial rice, he said that this remained a problem that their investigating unit is addressing.
Conrado Sebastian, president of NFA rice retailers in Bataan, said he sells 10 to 20 bags of NFA rice daily. “Mabenta ang P27 isang kilo pero nililimitahan namin para mas maraming tao ang makabili.” Another variety of NFA rice is available for P32 a kilo.
