DINALUPIHAN, Bataan – Pedring left muddy classrooms and wet books in many public elementary schools here.

Maria Cecilia Franco, Grade IV teacher at the Layac Elementary School in this town, said they have placed books and school documents on top of shelves and cabinets but were not spared by flood waters caused by the typhoons.

School children showed marks on the walls of the schools that flood waters in the area were breast-deep.

They began scrubbing mud on the concrete floors of classrooms and cleaned the school desks.

Dinalupihan is still under state of calamity. At least 15,000 families from 33 out of 46 barangays were affected by flood waters from knee to breast-deep. Mayor Joel Payumo said initial damage to rice production was placed at P14 million.
