LGU prepares evacuation centers; police ready for search, rescue

CABANATUAN CITY – Several public and private schools were designated evacuation centers for people that might be affected by Typhoon “Uwan” as heavy rains is expected to pour in Nueva Ecija Sunday noon to Monday noon.

Mayor Myca Elizabeth Vergara of this city said the facilities will be open starting Sunday, Nov. 9.

“Hinihikayat po ang mga residente, lalo na ang mga nakatira sa mga lugar na itinuturing na high-risk or low-lying areas na tumungo sa pinakamalapit na evacuation center ayon sa koordinasyon ng kanilang mga barangay officials,” Vergara said in an advisory.

These include Phinma Araullo University that will cover Barangays Aduas Centro, Aduas Norte, Aduas Sur, and Sangitan West; Cabanatuan City Senior High School for Barangays  D.S. Garcia, Mabini Extension, Mabini Homesite, M.S. Garcia, and  Sta. Arcadia; Mariano del Rosario Memorial National High School for Barangays Caudillo, Cinco-Cinco, Ibabao Bana, Pamaldan, Samon, and Talipapa;

Midway Colleges for Barangays Bitas, Cruz Roja, Daan Sarile, and  Valdefuente; Cabanatuan East Central School for Barangays Bantug Norte, Magsaysay Norte, Magsaysay Sur, and Sangitan East; Lazaro Francisco Integrated School for Barangays Bonifacio, Rizdelis, and Isla; Saint Nicholas the Tolentine for Barangays  Matadero and Nabao; and San Joseph National High School for Barangays San Josef Norte, San Josef Sur, Sumacab Este, Sumacab Norte, and Sumacab Sur.

Meanwhile, Nueva Ecija police director Col. Heryl Bruno led the inspection of the command’s life-saving equipment and manpower capabilities on Saturday to ensure readiness on search and rescue operation.

“Our proactive approach to disaster response reflects our commitment to safeguard lives and properties before, during, and after calamity,” said Bruno.
