ANGELES CITY — In his first 100 days as representative of Pampanga’s 1st District, Congressman Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. dug out of his own pocket funds for the school supplies of 4,410 daycare students.

Crayons, notebooks, pencil, eraser, sharpener, and writing pads were distributed to 2,745 daycare students in Mabalacat City and 1,665 daycare students in Magalang. The parents of each student also received five kilos of rice from Lazatin.

The school supplies were personally delivered by Lazatin to each daycare center back in July 2025 – the same month he was sworn into office.

In August, Lazatin announced he was set to request P260 million funding for the rehabilitation of all 173 daycare centers in the First District in 2026 and install two HP air-conditioners and a smart TV – at least 55 inches in size – in each day care center.

Currently, there are 78 day care centers in Angeles City, 62 in Mabalacat City, and 33 in Magalang Municipality.

Lazatin is also set to request P200 million to fund the construction of computer labs in 19 public high schools in the First District in 2026.

Under the project, a state-of-the-art computer laboratory will be constructed in six public high schools in Magalang Municipality, 12 public high schools in Mabalacat City, and in Francisco G. Nepomuceno Memorial High School in Angeles City.

During his time as Angeles City mayor, Lazatin led the distribution of complete school kits, including uniforms, school supplies, and bags, to all 93,697 public school and 3,368 daycare students in the City.

Since his first foray into public service – having been elected as Angeles City councilor in 2013 – Lazatin has also been an active participant of the annual Brigada Eskwela.

Lazatin participated in the Brigada Eskwela 2025, where he personally donated 580 sacks of cement, 116 liters of paint, and 232 paint brushes each to 58 public schools in Mabalacat City and 58 public schools in Magalang Town. Team Lazatin Media
