SUBIC BAY FREEPORT ZONE (PIA) — About 200 Social Security System (SSS) pensioners from Zambales received free medical services.

The activity is part of this year’s Pensioners’ Day wherein the state firm reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of its pensioners.

SSS Vice President for Luzon Central 2 Division Gloria Corazon Andrada thanked the pensioners for their continued trust and support, noting their role in the nation’s progress.

“This is our simple tribute to our pensioners for their contribution to the country’s progress. We promise to continuously improve our services to ensure the future of our members,” she said.

In an interview, 70-year-old pensioner from Olongapo City Nelly Talde Dela Peña shared how the Pension Loan Program (PLP) has positively impacted her life.

“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa SSS at napakalaking tulong po talaga. Nakapag-loan po ako, nagamit po sa pag-aayos ng bahay namin at pang-araw-araw na pangangailangan,” she said.

Launched in 2004, Pensioners’ Day has since expanded nationwide, providing social and medical assistance, health information, and a platform for pensioners to interact with one another in a supportive community setting.

From January to June 2025, SSS released ₱4.10 billion in loans to 86,499 retirement pensioners through the PLP, which allows qualified borrowers to access up to ₱200,000 while ensuring a portion of their pension remains as take-home pay, with the program soon extending to survivor pensioners, offering loans up to ₱150,000.
