IN MEMORIAM: VICE GOV. CLAYTON A. OLALIA

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – A necrological service was held Sept. 11 at the Capitol In honor of former Pampanga Vice Governor Clayton Olalia who passed away at the age of 65 on Sept. 5.

Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda and Vice Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda led the tribute to Olalia who served as vice governor from 1998 to 2001. Also paying his respects was Pineda patriarch businessman-philanthropist Rodolfo “Tatay Bong” Pineda.

Olalia started his political career as chairman of the then-Kabataang Barangay of Barangay San Lucia in the then town of San Fernando in the 1970s, sitting as councilor, and subsequently as the youngest provincial board member of Pampanga as KB provincial federation chairman.

Prior to being elected vice governor in tandem with Gov. Lito Lapid in 1998, Olalia served as board member from 1992 to 1998.

After his term as vice governor, Olalia served as deputy director of Manila Economic Cooperation Office based in Taipei, Taiwan; and as assistant secretary of the Department of Agriculture during the term of Secretary Arthur Yap.

Olalia was also a movie actor frequently playing supporting roles in several films since the 1990’s. Punto News Team/Photos: Pampanga PIO
