GAPAN CITY – A school principal was killed when the tricycle he was riding figured in a head collision with a cargo truck along the national highway in Barangay Sto. Cristo Sur here last Monday.
Emilia Garcia, 59, a resident of Barangay Bayanihan in this city and principal of a public school, was declared dead on arrival at the Good Samaritan Hospital here while the tricycle driver, identified as Ryan Pangan,30, of Barangay Malimba also of this city, is undergoing medical treatment, police said. PO3 Dennish Pengson, case investigator, said the tricycle (2969-CI) was cruising northbound along the Maharlika Highway when the southbound cargo truck (WAP-579) suddenly veered to the opposite lane at around 1 pm Monday.
Truck driver Cipriano Apa, 36, of Marilao, Bulacan, told police that an unspecified vehicle in front of him suddenly made a full stop prompting him to veer to the opposite lane. Apa was placed under arrest and is now facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide, serious physical injuries and damage to properties, Pengson said.
