GAPAN CITY – A city councilor from this city survived an attack by two motorcycle-riding men who lobbed a hand grenade at his house in Barangay Malimba here at dawn Friday, barely five months after he, his wife and a fish vendor were seriously wounded in an armed assault.

Senior Supt. Crizaldo Nieves, provincial police director, said Danilo De Guzman,57, of Sampaguita St., Purok 2, Barangay Malimba was unhurt. Investigation showed De Guzman and his family were inside the house when the suspects, on board separate motorcycles hurled the grenade inside the residential compound.

The impact of the explosion damaged the councilor’s car in the garage, police said. The motive behind the attack has yet to be established. Police said the grenade throwing was caught on a CCTV camera but it was not clear yet if the suspects were identified.

It was the second time De Guzman was attacked. Last September, he and his wife, Julieta, 55, and a fish vendor were seriously wounded when unidentifi ed suspects barged into their compound and started shooting them with long firearms.
