CABANATUAN CITY – The police would not allow a couple do their “thing” inside a local hotel.

Couple Irene and Edcel Santos, aged 37 and 36, of Barangay Isla, were arrested by operatives of the city police’s Drug Enforcement Unit allegedly for possession of 37 sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu inside Timberland Hotel in Dona Adela  Subdivision here.

Supt. Pedro Soliba, city police chief, placed the value of the confiscated illegal drugs from the couple at P64,000.

He said police operatives have been monitoring Santoses’ alleged illegal trade where drugs were supposedly delivered to clients inside a hotel room until they finally set up a buy bust Thursday.

The arrest of the suspects, according to Soliba, is a big push in the government’s drive against illegal drugs syndicates.

Another suspected drug suspect, Angelo Bustamante, 34, of Barangay Aduas Sur, also of this city, was arrested in a separate buy-bust operation Thursday, in possession of  30 sachets with an estimated street value of P70,000 of shabu inside the same hotel.

It was the third major anti-illegal drugs operation conducted by the city police in less than a month, Soliba said.

The local police recovered from alleged big time pushers a total of 118.64 grams of suspected shabu on July 10 and another P490,000 worth on July 17.

Charges of violations of Republic Act 9165 were leveled against the suspects, Soliba said.
