SAN MIGUEL, Bulacan (PIA) — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is pushing to transform traditional set-up schools into smart and climate-resilient learning facilities with digitally empowered teachers.
This was emphasized by the Chief Executive as he led the kick-off ceremony of Brigada Eskwela 2025 at Tibagan Elementary School in San Miguel, Bulacan.

Here, he witnessed the installation of a brand-new smart television by the Department of Education (DepEd) and Khan Academy Philippines which aims to equip Filipino students with foundational skills through interactive courses with fun that align with the DepEd’s curriculum.
To complement this, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has also installed a satellite-powered internet service by Starlink to give all-weather and uninterrupted internet access for students while in school.
Beside the school is a newly constructed passive telecommunications tower infrastructure to support the provision of efficient resource utilization and expansion of wireless network coverage.
This is for the purpose of regular internet connectivity by various service providers under the common tower policy of the DICT.
Tibagan Elementary School was chosen by the President to visit due to the urgency to replace old dilapidated classrooms that were eaten by massive termites.
School Principal Casimiro Reyes Jr. said the Office of the President has informed him that an amount of P9 million was allocated for the immediate repair of their classrooms.
The rehabilitation will be implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has also extended its services in this northern part of Bulacan by helping complete all the necessary motorist and pedestrian road signages outside the school facilities to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and parents.
Apart from the usual refurbishing and sprucing up of the various old and existing facilities, President Marcos has ordered DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara to fast-track the proposed construction plans for flood-prone schools including Barihan Elementary School in Malolos City, Bulacan which he also visited as part of Brigada Eskwela 2025.
Brigada Eskwela is annual shoulder-to-shoulder tasks and cooperation between the government, private sector, school, academe, parents and students to prepare for the opening of classes. (CLJD/SFV, PIA Region 3-Bulacan)
