Malagû: An artful celebration of National Women’s Month

ANGELES CITY – The very word for pulchritude in Kapampangan, Malagû, aptly dubbed a visual art exhibit sponsored by the city government led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. in celebration of National Women’s Month. 

A collaboration among the city tourism office, gender and development office, the artist collective Pamitipun king Panyúlung ning Kalalangan at Ámánang Kabiasnan Kapampángan, and SM City Clark, the exhibit highlights womanhood at its multi-faceted best. 

Curated by renowned artist and Kapampangan culture advocate Norman Tiotuico, the exhibit showcases the works of Ailyn A. Gonzales, May Ann Reyes, Ramil Tumampos, Arnel David Garcia, Arnold Salunga, Donna S. Camaya, Lloyd Dacayanan, Marinel Tungol, Jade L. Dominguez, Marylou Lilibeth Millan Dumas, Jessica Julia J. Cariño, Marites Tungol, Daisy Ramos, Andy Ramos, Rolly Suba, Art Sumalde, Alvin Dungca, Joanna Yap-Cabrera, Marie DC, Joeyboi Galang, Arthur Dela Cruz, Nico G. Tulabut, Dan Viray, Edu Perreras, Elizabeth Sison, Elleyana Sison, Aurelio Q. De Guzman, Persie Guzman, Francis Garzon, Gretchen Chen Taruc, Maricar Yabut-Sangalang, Julius Gonzales, Jojoy Zabala, Dallas Harvison, Genesis Reambillo, Bart Corcuera, Billy Corcuera, Jojo La Madrid – sculpture, Camille Joy Pingul, Heidy Macabenta, Eliseo Pererras, and Tiotuico himself.

Leading the opening ceremony were Vice-Mayor Ma. Vicenta Vega-Cabigting, councilors JC Aguas and Mitch Bonifacio, GAD OIC Mina Cabiles, ACTO OIC Anneleen Antonio-Sugui, and SM City Clark assistant mall manager Grace Gavino. 

Teased as “the power of art in empowering women,” the exhibit runs from March 1 to 23, 2025 at The Event Centre, SM City Clark! Angeles CIO
