This, if the the assesment of first district Rep. Eduardo Nonato Joson holds true.
Joson aired his assessment after administering the oath of Mayor Santy Austria who led some 22 barangay officials and their supporters in taking their oath of allegiance to the Bagong Lakas ng Nueva Ecija (Balane) that stands to be the opposition party in Nueva Ecija over the weekend.
Austria, along with Vice Mayor Henry Velarde, took their oath before the party chair, Joson. Joson is the brother of former Nueva Ecija Gov. Thomas Joson. Their younger brother, former Vice Gov. Mariano Cristino Joson lost the gubernatorial post to Gov. Aurelio Umali in the 2007 elections.
Umali heads the Lakas-CMD party in Nueva Ecija. He won by waging the clamor for change.
Austria rooted his political career from Balane but had joined Lakas in the recent polls. The village officials, on the other hand, are elected without political parties despite their preceived political lineages.
Jaen is a municipality within the province’s fourth congressional district. The oath taking was witnessed by Rep. Rodolfo Antonino, regional chairman of the administration party, Kabalikat ng Malayang PIlipino (Kampi).
The mayor said he will subscribe by the decision of the party in the future.
Before administering the oath, Joson reminded the village officials of the advocacies of the party which, among others he said, is fight against corruption.
“Kung dati kasi ay sinasabi na may under the table, ngayon pati table ay tinatangay na,” the solon said underscoring the prevalence of corruption in the country. He also urged them to observe Godliness and love of environment and democracy.
