OLONGAPO CITY – This city’s police office personnel under acting city director Senior Supt. Jerry Sumbad joins Department of Education and other local government units in the conduct of Brigada and Balik-Eskwela 2016 here.

This activity aims to make the public schools ready for the opening of academic year 2016-2017.

The influx of students is expected during the opening of classes on June 13, 2016 after the Independence Day (June 12) celebration.

The Olongapo City Police Office intensified its anti-criminality campaign by providing a wide variety of public service which includes establishing police assistance desks in all schools within the city; increased police visibility and presence in crime-prone areas to deter criminal activities and to directly address school bullying inside and outside the school; intensification of mobile and foot patrols along major routes/highways leading to all learning institutions and vicinity of schools aimed to provide public safety and security; additional deployment of road safety marshals along the main thoroughfares in coordination with the Highway Patrol Group and barangay personnel for pedestrians and traffic controls.

Also intensified is the strict implementation of zoning ordinances prohibiting the existence of computer shops, billiard establishments and other distractive games and recreation within the vicinity of schools to avoid students from cutting classes.

For added measure, police precincts hotline numbers have been posted at schools and campuses for immediate police response and action.

The OCPO also sustained its support to local schools by providing manpower and giving materials to aid in cleaning the school surroundings and repainting of classrooms.

Sumbad directed his staff and station commanders during the weekly command conference to “make it possible and keep this Brigada and Balik-Eskwela 2016 fruitful, meaningful and safe until the classes come to an end.”
