ANGELES CITY – The Balibago Waterworks System, Inc. (BWSI) will embark on a multi-million system-wide pipe rehabilitation program from 2011 to 2013 in a bid to serve its clients better.
Ronald G. Baron, manager of BWSI main branch, said the rehabilitation project will start at Diamond and Don Bonifacio subdivisions this August amounting to about P21 million pesos in the initial phase.
“This is one of our priorities in the next three years and we are working closely with the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) to continuously provide dependable 24-hour water services in our service are,” Baron said.
He added that the multi-million project is part of their continuous improvement of their operations within their franchise.
BWSI, which started operating in 1958, was awarded exclusive rights and franchises to serve other areas in Luzon, as well. These include Dapdap Resettlement site, Capas and Bamban towns in Tarlac; Essel Park in the City of San Fernando; Meycauayan, Guiguinto, Balagtas, Panginay and Malis in Bulacan; Sto Tomas, Magalang, Minalin, Porac, San Simon, Arayat, Sta. Rita, Apalit, Sta Ana, and San Luis in Pampanga; Victoria in Laguna; Sto. Domingo, Llanera and Zaragoza in Nueva Ecija; Sta. Barbara, Laoac and San Jacinto in Pangasinan.
Recently, it started operating in Aritao, Alfonso Castañeda, Bagabag and Bayombong in Nueva Vizcaya and Maria Aurora Province. BWSI is also expanding its operations in Baguio City and Passi City in IloIlo.
Baron said BWSI now has “33 water utilities under the umbrella of the company” and provides running water to some 70,000 households all over its franchise areas.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, he said the company also runs the “3H Grant Waterworks project of the Rotary Club of Makati.
The project seeks to provide service to the needy through non-profit ventures addressing humanitarian, health and hunger needs, Baron said.
“Through BWSI’s support, the project has been able to sustain itself and even grow from one branch to two branches. It is currently serving more than 1,000 low income families in Pampanga and Tarlac,” he added.
BWSI also donated trash bins to various public elementary schools (Tinio, Amsic, Gueco, Lakandula, Pulung Maragul and Pabalan) within its service area especially in Barangay Balibago and the surrounding areas, here.
Baron said they have opened new payment centers in different banks here and in SM City Clark. Bills payments could now be made at Bank of Commerce, Metrobank, Robinsonbank, Robinson’s place (all Balibago branches), Philippine National Bank Dau, Chinabank Marquee mall and SM Clark Bills Payments.
MOST EFFICIENT
Citing its 50 years of serving various communities in the Philippines, Baron said the NWRB considers BWSI the “largest and most efficiently operated provincial privately-owned waterworks district in the country.
“The awarding and granting of franchises wee made possible by BWSI’s outstanding reputation of being able to deliver the best water service possible,” he said.
