ANGELES CITY – Councilor Jericho Aguas disclosed on Tuesday that he and other opposition councilors have decided to support the administration of Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan “for the sake of Angeleños.”

In an interview during the soft-launching of the month-long Fiestang Kuliat celebration at the Marquee mall, Aguas said it is time to set aside politics and work for the implementation of various projects that would benefit thousands of Angeleños.

He said his colleagues – councilors Dan Lacson, Alfie Bonifacio, Pogs Suller, and Bryan Nepomuceno – have already talked to Pamintuan recently that “gained positive results.”

“We have to unite and work together. The city college should be established immediately so that hundreds or even thousands of poor but deserving students could finish college free of charge,” the top councilor said.

Aguas and his four colleagues ran for councilors under former Francis “Blueboy” Nepomuceno’s Team Friendship in the last elections. However, Nepomuceno lost with some 27,000 votes against Pamintuan.

He noted that aside from the city college, they also have to prioritize the upgrading and improvement of the Ospital Ning Angeles. This he said would also help thousands of indigents here to avail of free check-ups and medicines.

“We will be working hard even the mayor is out. I told Madam Vicky (Vice Mayor Vega-Cabigting) that I am just a text or phone call away if there are programs or things that we have to accomplish,” he added.

Aguas will temporarily seat as vice mayor while Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting will takeover as city mayor for 12 days. Pamintuan left on Wednesday (Sept. 9) for a trip in the United States to receive hospital equipment that include 15 dialysis machines.

On his Facebook account, Councilor Edu Pamintuan said the two priority programs of the Team Agyu Tamu are part of the eight campaign promise (AGYU TAMU Contract with Angeleños).

“Upgrading of ONA to a tertiary hospital to a tertiary hospital level characterized by improved medical services and sufficient supplies of medicines and other hospital needs, including the acquisition of CT Scan machines,” the contract said.

This also includes the establishment of the city’s first Public Dialysis Center and Animal Bite Center.

The contract also states that the Pamintuan administration will “promote Angeles City as Central Luzon’s “City of Education” through the establishment of a City College.

Mayor Pamintuan has earlier announced that the City College will be built on the area where the controversial P612-million sports complex project was supposed to be constructed.

Meanwhile, Association of Barangay Councils president Robin Nepomuceno has yet to announce if he will support and join Team Agyu Tamu like his son Bryan.
