CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – In honor of the Filipinos who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s freedom from colonial rule, Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda led the flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies marking the 126th anniversary of Philippine Independence at the Capitol Grounds here.

The governor, along with PNP provincial office director Col. Levi Hope Basilio and provincial fire marshal FSSupt. Romeo Pepito, Jr., led the wreath-laying rites with the Republica Filipina Reenactment Group to pay tribute to the nation’s heroes.

On behalf of the governor, 1st District board member Win-win Garbo delivered a speech, stressing the importance of unity in nation-building.

“Alalahanin natin na ang paglalakbay tungo sa tunay na kalayaan ay isang patuloy na proseso na nangangailangan ng ating sama-samang pagsisikap at dedikasyon. Magkaisa tayo sa pagtataguyod ng isang bansa, kung saan ang bawat Pilipino ay mabubuhay ng may dignidad, pantay-pantay, at may pagkakataon para sa mas magandang kinabukasan,” she noted.

The sangguniang panlalawigan members, provincial department heads and staff attended the ceremonies.

Themed “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan,” the event was organized by the Arts, Culture, and Tourism Office of Pampanga. It featured performances by the Coro Concierto and the La Granja Moderno Dance Troupe, who both used music and their talents to express patriotism and love for the Philippines.
