99 Central Luzon LGUs pass Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — A total of 99 local government units (LGUs) in Central Luzon passed the 2024 Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA) conducted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). 

Department of Social Welfare and Development Regional Director Venus Rebuldela said this accomplishment underscores the collective efforts of LGUs in fostering a safe, nurturing, and rights-based environment for children across the region.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all passers and conferees for their exemplary commitment to child-friendly governance. Let us continue to strengthen our partnerships in ensuring the welfare and development of children in Central Luzon,” she added.

Rebuldela likewise cited other partner agencies for their continued support and commitment to furthering these initiatives, which are vital in sustaining this momentum and driving meaningful change.

The province of Nueva Ecija has 20 passers namely the cities of Cabanatuan, Muñoz, Palayan, and San Jose; and the municipalities of San Leonardo, Rizal, Talugtug, Guimba, Zaragoza, General Mamerto Natividad, Nampicuan, Llanera, Cuyapo, Gabaldon, Pantabangan, Cabiao, Talavera, Bongabon, San Isidro, and San Antonio. 

Moreover, Pampanga has 18 passers including the cities of Angeles, Mabalacat and San Fernando; and the municipalities of Magalang, Candaba, Apalit, Bacolor, Floridablanca, Mexico, Santo Tomas, San Simon, San Luis, Sasmuan, Lubao, Guagua, Santa Ana, Porac, and Arayat. 

 Tarlac likewise has 18 LGU passers composed of the city of Tarlac and the municipalities of Pura, La Paz, Moncada, Gerona, Santa Ignacia, Bamban, Anao, San Clemente, Victoria, Capas, Camiling, Mayantoc, San Manuel, San Jose, Ramos, Concepcion, and Paniqui.  

Meanwhile, Bulacan has 15 passers consisting of the cities of San Jose del Monte, Baliwag, Malolos, and Meycauayan; and the municipalities of Bulakan, Balagtas, Pulilan, Guiguinto, San Miguel, Obando, Paombong, Plaridel, Doña Remedios Trinidad, San Ildefonso, and Bustos. 

Bataan, on the other hand, has 12 passers namely the city of Balanga and the municipalities of Pilar, Mariveles, Samal, Abucay, Hermosa, Orion, Dinalupihan, Orani, Bagac, Morong, and Limay.  

Aurora has eight passers comprising the municipalities of Dilasag, Dingalan, San Luis, Dipaculao, Maria Aurora, Dinalungan, Baler, and Casiguran. 

And lastly, Zambales also has eight passers including the city of Olongapo and municipalities of San Antonio, San Marcelino, Cabangan, Masinloc, Iba, Botolan, and Subic. 

The CFLGA is a results-based assessment tool and an annual mandatory audit designed to gauge the level of performance of  LGUs insofar as implementing programs and instituting measures to uplift the welfare status of the children.

It is adopted by the Council for the Welfare of Children in the conferment of  the Child- Friendly Local Governance and by the Office of the President for the Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Cities and Municipalities. (CLJD/MJSC, PIA Region 3-Pampanga)
