8 collared in drug den

    CABANATUAN CITY – Six men and two women were collared by the city police’s anti-illegal drugs operatives in a raid on a suspected drug den in Barangay Barrera here Wednesday afternoon.

    Supt. Ponciano Zafra, city police chief, identified the suspects as Ma. Ana Marana, 46, and Ma. Adoracion Maranan, 53, both belonging to a popular clan here; Lamberto Santiago, 43, of Gulod, Talavera; Lauro Domingo, 26, of Umangan, Aliaga; Bernie Alfonso, 40, of Barangay Pinagpanaan, Talavera; Benzon Calimquim, 27, of Barangay Rang-ayan, Science City of Munoz; Bernardo Beltran, 37, of Saranay, Guimba; and Cornelio Basa, 55, of Barangay Barrera this city.

    Zafra said that Marana, nabbed allegedly with eight sachets of suspected shabu with estimated value of P4,000 , was cornered at No. 074 Maranan Apartment, Purok Masikap in Barangay Barrera.

    The rest who yielded a total of 15 sachets of alleged shabu worth P10,000 were all caught at No. 071 of the same apartment, police said.

    Zafra said operatives led by Insp. Danilo Liberato, Jr. swooped down on the apartment at about 1:30 p.m. on the strength of search warrants issued by Judge Ana Marie Joson-Viterbo.

    The suspects were detained at the facility of CCPS facing charges for violations of Republic Act 9165.
