TARLAC CITY (PIA) — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has distributed a total of P4,197,600 in wages to 772 qualified workers from Tarlac City and Paniqui town under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program.

DOLE Tarlac Provincial Head Jose Roberto Navata stated that the 10-day emergency employment program was implemented through the coordinated efforts of the agency, the Provincial Government of Tarlac (PGT), and the local government units in the said area.

He noted that the beneficiaries were assigned tasks to help maintain cleanliness in their communities and public facilities.

In addition to financial support, DOLE expanded its assistance by providing Skills Training on Meat Processing to 50 selected TUPAD beneficiaries who expressed interest.

The training was conducted through the PGT Tarlac Center for Learning and Skills Success, an institution accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

Navata explained that the training aimed to equip participants with practical skills they can use to seek employment or start their own businesses.

Participants learned various meat processing techniques, enabling them to produce items such as longganisatocino, ham, and siomai.

This initiative reflects DOLE’s commitment not only to provide short-term solutions to employment challenges but also to create opportunities for sustainable livelihood.

By combining wage assistance with skills development, DOLE hopes to strengthen the capacity of disadvantaged workers to overcome economic challenges and achieve self-reliance.

Furthermore, beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to DOLE and partner agencies for the support, noting that it has significantly helped address their current needs and will contribute to their future stability. (CLJD/MAECR, PIA Region 3-Tarlac)
