CANDABA – More than 7,000 safe to eat chickens were distributed by Mayor Danilo Baylon to his constituents in the Riverside area of this municipality to prove that the town is free from avian influenza or bird flu the other day.

The mayor said the broiler chickens are raised for meat in his poultry farms with properly maintained biosecurity measures. He said he traveled the broilers in Candaba with a shipping permit and veterinary health certificate issued by the provincial veterinary office.

Baylon disclosed that he provides free chicken to his people even before the bird flu outbreak.

It was learned that the Danway Company of the mayor through his Danway mission of love, charity, and sharing is regularly distributing broiler chickens to the town’s people as part of the corporate social responsibility of his firm and a strong commitment to helping the marginalized sector in his town.

“Ito ay para ipakita rin natin na yung broilers hindi naaapektuhan ng virus,” Baylon added.

Thousands of Kapampangan flock the municipality during the distribution of broilers as a way of supporting the mayor in promoting Candaba bird flu free campaign.

Maribel Nieves is among those who received free chicken and expressed positivity that chickens are safe to eat.

“Tiwala po kami dahil kumakain po kami ng manok at itlog. Araw araw po kaming kumakain ng manok,” Nieves said.

Nieves was grateful for the initiative of Mayor Baylon in bringing back the trust of people to the poultry industry in the province.

Presently, Candaba is one of the biggest producers of duck and chicken eggs in the country.
