CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) — A total of 6,000 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Nueva Ecija are set to receive Certificates of Condonation and Release of Mortgage (CoCRoM) from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) on Friday, September 13.
DAR Regional Director James Arsenio Ponce announced that this will be the first-ever distribution of CoCRoMs to be held in Central Luzon.
He also revealed that ARBs in the province will be provided with 9,832 CoCRoM, covering 10,450 hectares of agricultural land.
These certificates will relieve the beneficiaries from paying loans amounting to P277 million, as prescribed under Republic Act No. 11953, also known as the New Agrarian Emancipation Act (NAEA).
The Certificates of Condonation are the full realization of NAEA, which complements the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program by condoning loans incurred by ARBs from lands awarded to them by the government under the agrarian reform program, including interest and surcharges.
The law is expected to benefit over 600,000 Filipino farmers nationwide, covering more than 1.7 million hectares of land.
Moreover, Ponce emphasized that aside from CoCRoM, DAR will also distribute P41 million worth of agri-credit checks to 480 ARBs representing 12 ARB organizations.
This financial aid is part of the Accessible Loans for Empowered, Resilient, and Transformed Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations or ALERT ARBOs program, in partnership with the Land Bank of the Philippines, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and the Department of Agriculture.
Overall, these initiatives underscore the government’s commitment to empowering ARBs, fostering agricultural development, and alleviating financial burdens for farmers across the country. (CLJD/MAECR, PIA Region 3-Nueva Ecija)
