32 Clark locators join food safety, waste awareness forum

CLARK FREEPORT— A total of 49 participants from 32 food establishments in this Freeport participated in the ‘Food Safety and Food Waste Awareness Forum’ spearheaded by Clark Development Corporation’s (CDC) Health and Sanitation Division (HSD) recently.

The said activity aims to orient the participants on food safety, sanitary permit requirements, and waste management in various restaurants and cafes in this Freeport as Clark became a popular destination for its culinary offerings, bringing an influx of visitors.

The CDC-HSD, headed by HSD Manager Dr. Clemencita D. Dobles, invited resource speakers from the Clark Water Corporation (CWC) and Metro Clark Waste Management (MCWM) to share the proper waste management in food establishments.

CWC Territory Manager Aljohn Sabat discussed the liquid waste management leading to the wastewater distribution system and treatment while MCWM representatives Mervin Perez and Analyn Manalo tackled solid waste management in bin utilization and collection procedures.

On the other hand, Jollibee Corporation Manager Edlyn Fabian shared their best practices in the Jollibee branch located at Jollibee Petron Clark.

Aside from the guest speakers, resource speakers from CDC also shared their knowledge and insights to the managers and supervisors who were present at the HSD Training Hall.

CDC Environmental Permits Division (EPD) Manager Engr. Rogelio M. Magat talked about the importance of Food Waste Awareness alongside CDC Sanitation Inspector II Raymond A. Cordero who discussed Food Safety.

Meanwhile, CDC Sanitation Inspector III Engr. Filemon G. Angeles reiterated the Sanitary Permit Requirements to ensure the cleanliness of food establishments in this Freeport.

Some of the participating establishments are Café Dia, Sum Nara, Meat Plus Café, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Yellow Cab, La Rose Noire, Burger King, Siano, Yo! Shabu Shabu, Pan and Tree, The Red Crab, Jollibee Petron Clark, Starbucks Berthaphil, Starbucks, Café Mesa, Café B.O.M, Grill Seoul, Koko Buri, The Deli, Chef Baboy, Uncle Bob, McDonalds, and Tapa Tapa, among others.

Also present during the activity are CDC Vice President for Engineering Services Group Jose Miguel R. Dela Rosa and CDC Business Development and Business Enhancement Group (BDBEG) Officer-in-Charge Thelma C. Ocampo who both shared their message to the participants.

To ensure the protection of the stakeholders, CDC regularly conducts forums and seminars dedicated to the continuous improvement of various restaurants, cafes, and other dining facilities in Clark.
