CABANATUAN CITY – There seems to be no stopping the seeming extrajudicial killing of suspected illegal drugs peddlers in Nueva Ecija as two more were killed and another is in “critical condition” in separate incidents Thursday.

While Arnold Villaviza, the No. 1 top priority target in the provincial level under the police’s Lambat-Sibat fought for his life at a hospital here, his brother Armando was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians. Another sibling, Vergel is undergoing medical treatment.

Investigation showed that the three were on board a gray Toyota Corolla (NGY 139) when fired at by unidentified suspects on a dark sedan at around 10:28 a.m. in Barangay San Juan, Aliaga town.

Police said Arnold and Vergel, residents of Barangay San Carlos, Aliaga, were on their way home from a hearing on illegal drugs charges against them at the Regional Trial Court Branch 25 in Cabanatuan City when ambushed.

Earlier that day (June 23), the body of Robles Acosta,36, was found on an irrigation canal in Barangay Narvacan II, Guimba town with gunshot wounds in the head and different parts of his body. A farm caretaker, the victim was “involved in illegal drugs trade,” police said quoting the victim’s own father.

SPO2 Amorsolo Grospe, investigator, said intelligence operatives are conducting follow operation to check if the victim was indeed in illegal drugs trade.

At about 11:38 p.m. Wednesday (June 22), Michael Angelo Roque, 31, a resident of Barangay Dulong Bayan, Quezon was walking along a barrio road when shot dead by two unidentified motorcycle-riding men and died on the spot.

Roque was No. 2 in the priority target list of the municipal police.

Police said follow-up investigation is being conducted to ascertain the identities of the perpetrators and the motives behind the killings.
