BALANGA CITY – The City of Balanga on Monday held its second University Town Summit attended by 2,070 students and 104 teachers from 10 colleges and a university here.
City Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III explained that the summit serves as career guidance and exposes students to job opportunities in the province. “The students are also updated on modern technology and at the same time given time for even a short bonding moment,” the mayor said.
Garcia took time in briefing the students, teachers and guests on what the city is doing so as not to suffer again the big flood caused by “habagat” last month. He said that desilting of rivers was going on.
“One of our aims is to have a conducive learning environment in the city,” the mayor said.
Rodolfo de Mesa, city administrator, said similar summits have also been conducted in the past for elementary and secondary school children.
Hans Eric Chua, president of Internet Mobile Marketing Association, discussed “Social Media”. Bro. Harold Espeleta, Family of Holy Family Center of Studies, dealt on “Personal Governance”.
Francisco Sauceda, Jr., president of Luen Thai-Philippines, talked about ‘Career Success and Life Choices”.
The students and teachers in attendance came from the Bataan Peninsula State University, Bataan Heroes Memorial College, Philippine Women’s University, AIE College, St. Joseph College, AMA CLC, Tomas del Rosario College, STI, Microcity, Eastwoods and Asia Pacific College of Advanced Studies.
