“Kung ang puso ay na sa paglilingkod, may kakayahan, idea at intellectual para maglingkod sa bayan, dapat hindi isyu ang diskriminasyon on the basis of gender. Kung paiiralin ang diskriminasyon, nakakalungkot ito and we might as well forget the Constitution,” she said.
Roman is seeking the congressional seat in the first district of Bataan that will be left vacant by her mother Rep. Herminia Roman on her third term. Her late father, Tony Roman, was also former assemblyman and congressman of Bataan.
The transgender candidate said that she was not worried which comfort room to use in the House of Representatives as published in a national daily.
“Which comfort room is not my main concern and not even a problem for me because I am a legal female and ever since have been using the women’s comfort room,” Geraldine said.
“Value of people lies not in their gender but what is in their hearts and minds,” she said.
Dexter Domingez, aka Teri Onor of showbiz fame, defended members of the LGBT in seeking elective posts.
“Ang pagtakbo ng bawat miyembro ng Ikatlong Lahi kahit kailan ay hindi dapat maging isyu sa bayan. Kahit anong kasarian, basta may pagmamahal sa bayan, karapat-dapat, wala akong nakikitang masama rito,” he said.
Onor was vice-mayor of Abucay, Bataan from 2007 to 2010 and member of the provincial board representing the first district from 2010 to the present.
“Consistent Number 1 tayo sa nakaraang dalawang eleksiyon,” he said.
He is seeking reelection on his last term.
“Bilang miembro ng Ikatlong Lahi, mas aggressive kaming maglingkod,” Onor said.
