CABANATUAN CITY – Two persons were killed in an encounter between police operatives and suspected drug peddlers in Barangay Daan Sarile here before dawn Tuesday.
Supt. Ponciano Zafra, city police chief, identified the fatalities as Angelito Quiambao, 35, of the said village and Ariel Malabuyoc, 38, driver from San Pablo, Laguna.
Zafra said the duo engaged policemen in a gunfight apparently upon sensing that they were dealing with a policeman in a buy-bust operation against Quiambao, who was included in the local police’s drug watchlist.
“The operatives and their back up returned fi re fatally hitting the suspects,” Zafra said.
Recovered from the crime scene were two .38 revolvers with spent shells, six plastic sachets of suspected shabu, and two shells from .9mm.
