BALANGA CITY — The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office reported Tuesday that two towns in Bataan have portions still flooded due to rains triggered by the southwest monsoons.

In the town of Hermosa, the village of Almacen and its neighbor Daungan have fl ood waters of four feet and two feet deep, respectively.

Flood continued to inundate the two barangays due to the heavy volume of water coming from the mountains that overflowed from the wide Almacen River to the road and houses. In the past two days, water in Almacen rose to six feet.

In Dinalupihan, still with minimal flood were the SCTEx tunnel in Barangay Pita with 10 to 12 inches high of water, SCTEx tunnel in Barangay Sapang Balas with 14 to 16 inches, and some portions of Sta. Isabel at nine inches deep.

Some portions of the MacArthur Highway in Abucay town have ankle-deep flood waters. Both the MacArthur Highway and the Roman Superhighway are passable to all kinds of vehicles.

Only Bbarangay Bayan-Bayanan in Dinalupihan has 20 families of 83 individuals who are still in the evacuation center in the barangay hall and health center, PDRRMO said.

Bataan continued to have rains but only intermittent light to moderate ones. Once in a while, heavy rains suddenly came but after a long lull as if giving time for the sun to peep even shortly.

Classes from pre-school to senior high school in the towns of Dinalupihan and Orani and the City of Balanga were suspended by Mayors Maria Angela Garcia, Efren Pascual, Jr. and Francis Garcia.

Mayor Liberato Santiago, Jr. ordered the suspension of classes in all levels in Abucay.
