168 sewers, skilled workers get livelihood assistance from Capitol

    CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Some 168 individuals on Monday benefited from the more than P700, 000 worth of livelihood assistance provided by the Provincial Government of Pampanga through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

    Gov. Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda led the turnover of the livelihood equipment that was also graced by Vice Governor Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Provincial Director Arlene Tolentino, PESO Manager Luningning Vergara and provincial board members.

    PESO Community Affairs Officer Michael Regala said the benefi ciaries received 50 sewing machines amounting to P531,500 and 16 sets of starter kits for air-condition and refrigerator repair amounting to 239,024.

    The associations that received 10 sewing machines each were the sewers from San Simon, CARE Consumer Cooperative in Clark, Mabalacat City, and sewers from Lubao and Porac; while 16 groups or 80 individuals also got the starter kits from the agency.

    Regala said the sewing machines and starter kits were provided by the DOLE Pampanga.

    He said the distribution of the livelihood assistance aims to alleviate the condition of the poor and help boost the economy.

    Provincial Director Tolentino, meanwhile, said the distribution is part of the P4-million livelihood assistance program allotted to the provincial government for 2016.

    Tolentino added that the DOLE and PESO are set to conduct another distribution where 12 nego-trailers, 10 nego-karts, and 50 push carts will be dispensed.
