ZARAGOZA, Nueva Ecija – After hiding for nearly 12 years, a 32-year-old rape suspect from this town was arrested by local police operatives in Barangay Tambidao, Bacarra, Ilocos Norte on Wednesday.

The suspect was identified as Felvin Tagaza, single, resident of Barangay San Rafael this municipality.

Zaragoza police chief Major Jaime Ferrer said the suspect who was accused of raping a minor, was Number 1 in their most wanted list.

In his report to Nueva Ecija police director Col. Jaime Santos, Ferrer said Tagaza was subject of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Evelyn Dimaculangan-Querijero of the Cabanatuan City Regional Trial Court on Sept. 17, 2008 on charges of rape in relation to Republic Act 7610.

Local police operatives had to travel to Ilocos Norte late Tuesday night and cornered the suspect in his hideout Wednesday morning, Ferrer said.

“Talagang malayo at nakakapagod na biyahe ang ginawa ng ating mga pulis para mahuli ang suspek,” Ferrer said, saying the operation was hatched upon confirming an intelligence information regarding Tagaza’s whereabouts.

No bail was recommended for Tagaza.
