SAN LEONARDO, Nueva Ecija – A welder, who ranked No. 8 in the province’s drugs watch list, was killed while six others were arrested in separate buybust operations in Nueva Ecija on Friday, police reported Saturday.
Police Col. Leon Victor Rosete, director of the Nueva Ecija police provincial office (NEPPO), identified the fatality as Ernesto Pascual alias Jonjon, 30, of Barangay Bangad, Cabanatuan City who reportedly initiated a gunfight with law enforcers in a buy-bust in Barangay Adorable here at about 7:50 p.m. Jan. 3.
Police said Pascual suddenly fired a .45 pistol at an undercover policeman “but missed,” prompting anti-drugs operatives to fight back. The suspect was hit and died instantly, according to the report.
Recovered from the suspect were the pistol, five sachets of suspected shabu including the one supposedly sold to the lawman, the P500 dusted money and a single motorcycle.
Meanwhile, those arrested in different places were identified as Gemma Sarenas, aka as Gina Sanchez, 53, of Barangay Sarenas, Cabanatuan City; Restituto Parungao, 53, of Barangay Mangino, Gapan City; Renato Perez, 47, of DS Garcia, Cabanatuan City; Roselyn Roxas, 32, of Barangay 12, Gen. Tinio town with construction worker Renier Rayo, 37, of Barangay Bagong Sikat also of Cabanatuan City; and Joseph Almuete, 40, of Bakal III, Talavera, Nueva Ecija.
Investigations said all of the suspects who are now facing charges of violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Law, yielded sachets of shabu and marked money.
