MARIVELES, Bataan — Heavy rains did not deter Zumba enthusiasts to go on with
their activity Saturday afternoon in a village here in their ardent desire to help
cancer patients in the municipality.
Barangay Alion chairman Al Balan said the Zumba participants kept on coming at
the upland village covered court despite the bad weather condition hitting the
province.
“Hindi napigil ng malakas na ulan ang ‘Zumba for a cause’ para sa mga cancer
patients sa ilalim ng Bataan Cancer Society–Mariveles chapter,” the punong
barangay noted.
Balan said 120 persons did not mind paying P50 each, knowing that their
contribution will go to a noble cause. It will benefit 128 cancer patients.
Most of the participants came from Mariveles and neighboring Limay town.
“Exercise na, nakakatulong pa,” they said of the activity.
Balan said he thought of the project and will not hesitate to repeat it. He said that
the barangay did not spend anything but merely made a donation.
“Nakita ko sa social media na maraming namamatay sa cancer sa Mariveles kaya
naisip ko na makalikom ng pera para sa kanila,” the village leader said.
