CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Central Luzon has signed a Kapatiran Wise TAV (KWT) partnership agreement with Makati Development Corp (MDC) to intensify its “zero accident” advocacy in workplaces, particularly in the construction industry.
“KWT – Para sa Mas Ligtas, Malusog, at Produktibong Manggagawa” is a flagship public-partnership program of the DOLE anchored on the International Labor Organization’s Work Improvement in Small Enterprises (WISE) Program, whose action-oriented approach has long proven to link productivity and product quality to safer and better working conditions,” said DOLE Regional Information Officer Jerry Borja.
He said the KWT-signed partnership between the DOLE and MDC covers specifically the latter’s on-going Anvaya Cove Project, located at Morong, Bataan.
“It encourages large companies, coin the Big Brothers like the MDC, who are engaged in third-party contracting or sub-contracting work arrangements, to coach or mentor their contractors or subcontractors, the Small Brothers, to become fully compliant with general labor standards and occupational safety and health standards, as well as with other labor laws, and registration to social benefits schemes such as the SSS, Pag-Ibig, and PhilHealth,” Borja explained.
MDC’s subcontractors include Energy Factors Inc., MRS Wood Industries, Rencor (MIT-AIR), Aust-Phils, E-Contech Construction Corp., Powerteam Builders Inc., Pacific Summit Construction Group Inc, Modulplus, KP Eco, Multiline, and Systech.
