SAN ANTONIO, Zambales —Local and foreign
tourists were temporarily barred from two barangayshere that host popular beaches, islands, and coves as cases of local transmission of Covid-19 surged in the country.

Zambales police manning checkpoints in BarangaysPundaquit and San Miguel denied entry to non-residents.

The town’s “Pusit Festival” has also been called off while a sunflower farm has been closed due to the health scare caused by Covid-19.

Meanwhile, in San Felipe town, Mayor Leo John Farrales declared Sitio Liwliwa, Barangay Sto. Niño and all resorts in the municipality temporarily closed to all foreign and local tourist starting March 15, 2020 until further notice.

The closure of resorts was arrived at in a consultation with resort owners, municipal and barangay officials and department heads during the emergency meeting held at Municipal Community Centrum.
