YAM CONCEPCION was launched last year in Erik Matti’s provocative sex-drama, “Rigodon.” Then ABSCBN got her to be Ejay Falcon’s leading lady in the recent soap, “Dugong Buhay.” What’s the public’s reaction to her going sexy in “Rigodon”?
“I got some bastos comments but doing the sexy movie paid off kasi nakilala ako. So no regrets. When ‘Dugong Buhay’ was shown, I think I gained more respect. Lumaki rin ang fan base ko. Malaki ang nagawang tulong ng ‘Dugong Buhay’ sa career ko.”
How did she get the role? “There was an audition and I took it. Nagulat na lang ako dahil pinatawag ako to attend the storycon na. The series ran for six months.
Masayang-masaya talaga akong ‘yun ang naging first teleserye ko and it took some time before it sunk in me na ipinagkatiwala nila sa’kin ang ganu’n kalaking role as Ejay’s leading lady. Three days a week ang taping namin at naging kaibigan ko ang lahat sa cast.
I really gained new friends, para kaming pamilya, lalo na si Ms. Sunshine Cruz. We became really close. And I learned so much from Direk Toto Natividad. Nami-miss ko nga silang lahat ngayon.”
How’s it working with Ejay Falcon? “Napakabait niya. I’m so happy for him dahil he’s doing four movies now.
He deserves it. Siya ang bida sa movie ni Direk Toto na ‘Saka-Saka’, which is an entry sa Metro filmfest New Wave section.” So what are her next projects? “I just did an episode sa ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya’.
Magkapatid kami ni Sam Concepcion. I also did a music video of the song, ‘Ikaw at Ako’, with Fil-Am singer Jason Farol. Tapos, kasama rin ako sa filmfest entry ni Vice Ganda, ‘Boy Girl Bakla Tomboy’. I also have an endorsement na lalabas soon. Malaking pasabog ‘yun. Magkakaroon din daw ako ng bagong teleserye. Sana nga, totoo.”
